A once constricted and underutilised floor of a historic building has been transformed into a vibrant, flexible workspace, giving the building a renewed sense of purpose. By removing outdated partitions and services, the project has created a bright, creative, and functional facility that elevates the learning experience for students.
To achieve this, ceilings were stripped back to reveal the building’s services, turning them into a design feature rather than a distraction. Careful coordination with the wider design team ensured that these exposed services not only perform flawlessly but also complement the building’s coffered ceilings. Modern lighting further enhances the space, bringing in warmth, clarity, and a contemporary feel.
A key improvement is the introduction of heat recovery ventilation, improving comfort while offering flexibility for different uses. The result is a space that seamlessly adapts to flexible working, seminars, and events—an inspiring environment where heritage meets modern functionality.
